Pick makeup that is high in retinol and peptides. According to Patricia Farris, M.D., look at the ingredients of the makeup. She says that if the retinol and certain Vitamins like E and C are near the top of the active ingredient list, the makeup is more than likely going to be good for anti-aging purposes.

Add in an anti-aging cream or serum to your daily beauty routine. By using the cream and the anti-aging makeup, you help your skin look more youthful, than if you were just to use the makeup alone.

Look for a foundation that is in liquid form to help cover up wrinkles and fine lines but also to keep your skin moisturized. Like with all foundation, the closer it is to your actual skin color, the more you will be able to cover up those fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots.

Find most types of makeup from concealer, bronzer, blush and powder in cream or liquid form to prevent your skin from drying. Drying may lead to more of an appearance of wrinkles.

Pick makeup that has some sort of SPF in it along with anti-aging elements. Look for makeup with SPF that blocks both UVA and UVB rays. While the makeup should not take the place of sunscreen, it does help protect your skin during day-to-day activities.

Look for a concealer that is as close to your skin tone as possible. According to "Good Housekeeping," if nothing matches your skin tone perfectly, go for a concealer that is slightly darker than your skin, rather than lighter.

      • 7

Line your lips before putting on lipstick. This will help the lipstick stay on your lips rather than bleed out. Pick a liner that is as close to your lipstick shade as possible.

Avoid makeup that may highlight wrinkles, like a pearlized eyeshadow on the outside of your eye, where crow's feet are more likely to occur.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Use a moisturizer as part of your everyday skin routine, no matter what age you are. Keeping your skin from drying out will make it look smoother and healthier.

    • Don't expect any of the makeup to reverse the effects of aging. The makeup is there to help cover up and help minimize signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles.
