Shopping for groceries is inevitable, and one of the ways we splurge. But it is also one of the best opportunities for learning how to practice frugality. With these tipes, you will be on your way to huge savings and quality eating.
Make a list and stick to it. This way you can estimate a budget and shop accordingly. Make sure it includes not just food, but everything you normally get at a grocery store.
Step2
Never shop hungry. I know you've probably heard this a million times, but it still holds true. Shopping hungry not only increases your chances of buying foods you do not need, but it also increases the chances of buying foods that are very high on calories.
Step3
Clip coupons! This doesn't need to be very time consuming, but if you buy some item very often, see if there are coupons available for it. Check the newspapers and store promotions as well.
Step4
Plan your meals for the whole week ahead. This will make writing a list down easier and it will help you choose foods that may be on sale that particular week.
Step5
Use cash only for the groceries. Withdraw a certain amount, and do not go over it. This will help you learn to stay disciplined and on focus.
Step6
Purchase the store brand whenever available. It is still high quality, and a lot cheaper than some regular brands.
Tips & Warnings
Keep an eye out for store specials.
Have a grocery "buddy" that you can call and they can call you whenever an item one of you needs is on sale.

I REGULARLY buy over $100 in groceries for less than $10. Take a look at my articles where I share how I do it: http://www.ehow.com/members/momandpopoften-articles.html

El mejor consejo es el de comprar con un presupuesto limitado en efectivo sin llevar mas dinero o tarjetas de credito. Me parece que no hay manera de que haya mas despilfarro.
