We all have heard the excuse: "I can’t exercise because I have no time." If you have ever been in that position, you know how frustrating it is to feel that way. The truth, however, is that exercise doesn’t need to take a big chunk of your schedule to be effective, and even if it did, the benefits alone should make the investment worth it. Read on to learn how to exercise if you have no time.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Ask yourself how important is exercise to your life. The truth is that we can all make time to do something if we really want to. By making exercise a priority, you should be able to find a way to accommodate weekly workouts into your schedule, no matter how packed it may seem.
Step2
Give up something. If you truly have no time to exercise, then it may be time to make space for it in your schedule. If there anything you do that wastes time and should be dropped, do it. In this time and age, there is no reason to spend 30 minutes waiting in line to pay a bill when you can do it online. The same is true of other activities, such as splitting our shopping throughout the week. Instead, try shopping once a week, at a single store, for everything you need.
Step3
Be realistic. If you truly only have 30 minutes three times a week, it makes no sense to promise yourself that you will take a 90-minute spinning class. Instead, work with what you have and keep in mind that even 30 minutes of intense activity can shield amazing results.
Step4
Ask yourself what type of exercise you enjoy. Even if you don’t actually like the idea of going to the gym, there must be something you enjoy doing, whether it is going cycling, walking with your dog or practicing yoga. You are more likely to find time to exercise if you like what you are doing.
Step5
Make an appointment with yourself. Treat exercise like any other must-do activities in your schedule. Write it down on your calendar if you have to, or simply commit yourself to a specific date and time.

Tips & Warnings

  • Everyday little things can be turned into a workout if you do them with enough intensity. Skip the elevator in favor of the stairs, for example, and you can get an excellent cardio workout. Or paint the house yourself rather than paying somebody to do it.
