The Adobe Premiere Pro Timeline defaults to the same settings whenever you open a new project. Depending on your working style and preferences, it is easy to adjust the presets of the Timeline to better view specific tracks. If you are working with many different layers in your Premiere Pro Timeline, you may need to resize tracks to accommodate your project.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

To resize the track header section, position the mouse pointer over the right edge of the track. The resize icon will appear and you can drag it to the size you want. The maximum width is about twice the minimum width.

  2. Step 2

To adjust visible area of video and audio tracks, position the mouse pointer between Video 1 and Audio 1. When the height adjustment icon appears, you can drag it up or down.

  3. Step 3

You can exclude any track from previews and export by clicking on the “Eye” icon for video or the “Speaker” icon for audio. Each icon is a toggle switch. Click its box again to display the icon and include the track.

  4. Step 4

To exclude all video or all audio tracks, click "Shift" to hide the Eye icon for video or the Speaker icon for audio. This will exclude all tracks of the same type. Again, each icon is a toggle switch. You can hold "Shift" and click its box again to display all the icons and include the tracks.
