Step 1
The Time rulers show you the duration of a clip or sequence. As you set your In and Out points on the clips in the Source Monitor, they will be displayed in the Time ruler. You can adjust the In and Out points by dragging them in the ruler.
-
Step 2
The Current Time indicator shows you the location of the current frame in each monitor’s time ruler. The indicator appears as a light blue triangle in the ruler that moves as the clip plays.
-
Step 3
The Current Time display appears on the lower left-hand side under the clip in the monitor, and it shows the timecode for the current frame. The Source Monitor time display shows the current time for the open clip, while the Program Monitor shows the sequence’s current time. To move to a specific point in the clip or sequence, click within the display and enter the new time. You can also drag the Current Time indicator to the left or right.
-
Step 4
The Duration display shows the duration of the open clip or sequence. It appears in the lower right-hand side under the clip in the monitor. The duration refers to the time between the In point and the Out point for the clip or sequence.
-
Step 5
The Viewing Area bars are the thin bars with curved handles above each time ruler. You can drag the handles to change the width of the bar, which changes the scale of the time ruler below. If you expand the bar to its maximum width, the entire clip or sequence will be displayed on the time ruler. Shortening the bar zooms in for a more detailed view of the ruler.
