You have a nasty cold and it's miserable. The runny nose, watery eyes, and dry cough are driving you bonkers. What can you do to feel better quickly? Here are some all natural cold remedies that can get you back into commission.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Natural cold treatments: Take echinacea

Although research has been conflicting, there's some evidence to suggest that taking the herb Echinacea when you first get the symptoms can shorten its duration. Echinacea supplements are easy to find these days at your local vitamin or health food store.
Step2
Natural cold treatments: Discover the power of garlic

Studies have shown that garlic has anti-viral properties and can give the immune system a boost when it comes to fighting colds and flu. The verdict is still out as to whether it can stop a cold once it has started, but it's an excellent way to protect yourself against future bouts with the cold virus.
Step3
Natural cold treatments: Drink lots of water

Drinking water can help to relieve cold symptoms by keeping your nasal passages well hydrated and thinning out thick nasal secretions. It also helps to keep the mucous membranes of the throat moist.
Step4
Natural cold treatments: Sip tea with honey

Honey has been shown to be one of the most effective treatments for cough. Add a few teaspoons of honey to your favorite herbal tea and sip it slowly to soothe irritated throat passages.
Step5
Natural cold treatments: Use zinc lozenges

Some studies have shown that zinc lozenges can shorten the duration of cold symptoms. To be effective, zinc must be used within twenty four hours of developing symptoms. You should be able to find these lozenges at your local drugstore. Unfortunately, these lozenges often leave a metallic taste in the mouth.
Step6
Natural cold Treatments: Rest

Sleep can help to boost your immunity to fight off the cold virus. If you have a cold, be kind to yourself and to your co-workers by calling in sick. The cold virus is very easily transmitted in an enclosed space.
