How to Inflate a Balloon Without Blowing Into It

Filling up a balloon without actually blowing into it is a great science project or just something fun to do with your kids. The process is a simple reaction between baking soda and vinegar, which forms carbon dioxide. This inflates the balloon. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Balloon
  • Clean glass bottle with narrow mouth
  • Funnel
  • 1 tbsp. baking soda
  • 4 tbsp. of vinegar
  1. Step 1

    Pour 4 tbsp. of vinegar into a clean bottle.

  2. Step 2

    Use a funnel to fill a small balloon with one tablespoon of baking soda.

  3. Step 3

    Be sure that the bulb of the balloon falls to one side as you carefully slip its mouth over the neck of the bottle.

  4. Step 4

    Lift the bulb of the balloon and let the baking soda fall into the bottle.
