Do you have old vinyl records stored away in a closet somewhere in your home? Instead of having those records take up space, why not put them to good use?

While some old vinyl records are worth money, many are not and can't be resold due to scratches and excessive use. If you think you have vinyl records that can earn cash for you, do an Ebay search to make sure your vinyl records aren't valuable before using them in any type of craft project.

If you know you have a vinyl record that's of little value, give this vinyl record craft project a try. You'll be creating a unique display bowl for your home out of record vinyl.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An old vinyl record
  • A heat proof metal bowl
  • Oven mits
  • Vinyl records crafts: Choose your vinyl records and supplies
  1. Step 1

    Set Up Your Mold

Place the heat proof metal bowl upside down in the oven. (the rim of the bowl should be face down on the oven rack). Carefully place your vinyl record on top of the bowl so it's centered.

  2. Step 2

    Shape the Bowl

Once your vinyl record is centered on the heat proof metal bowl in the oven, turn the oven on to a temperature of 200 degrees Farenheit. Leave the record in the oven for five to seven minutes. During this time the record will start to droop down around the bowl. When this happens, put on your mits to protect your hands and turn the bowl over. Place the softened vinyl record inside the bowl. Using your hands, shape the softened record to conform to the shape of the bowl. You'll have less than a minute to do this before the record hardens, so work quickly. If your attempts aren't satisfactory, you can always place the record back in the oven to soften it again for reshaping.

  3. Step 3

Allow Your New Bowl to Cool

Once your vinyl record bowl cools, it's ready to use. You can use it to hold candy, potpourri, a plant, or display it as a unique art piece. It's sure to draw compliments from music lovers!
