There’s an old Catholic tradition that burying a statue of St. Joseph upside down in your back yard will help you sell your house. Whether you believe it or not, simply follow these steps if you think it’s worth a try.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
If you don’t already have a statue of St. Joseph, you’ll have to buy one. You can find them at Catholic supply stores, general religious supply stores and online through specialty retailers.
Step2
Take the statue into the back yard and dig a hole deep enough to bury the statue completely and cover it with at least 6 inches of dirt.
Step3
Place the statue in the hole upside down and fill in with dirt. Some choose to say a prayer to commemorate the ceremony.
Step4
When the house sells, some believe that the statue should be dug up to prevent it from re-selling again quickly. Others believe that by leaving it buried, St. Joseph will protect the house and its new residents.

Tips & Warnings

  • Most people take this superstition light-heartedly, but you might encounter those who swear by it.
