How to Choose the Best Diet

If you need to lose weight, the best way to start is by changing your eating habits. While eating healthy could be enough to shed pounds, some people do better when they have a more structured eating plan or diet to follow.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Do your research. Look online for different types of diets (based on calorie restriction, food groups, carbohydrate or fat reduction) and select a few that you think fit your lifestyle and preferences (if you don’t cook, for example, it makes no sense to choose a diet that requires a complicated homemade menu).
Step2
Study those diets to weed out the ones that are too difficult, too expensive or too time-consuming. If you have any medical condition or health problems, you will also need to avoid any diets that restrict a certain food group or encourage you to take special supplements.
Step3
Consider the downsides of each diet you are considering: how long they will take to work, how restrictive they are, how expensive or difficult will it be to obtain all necessary items to follow it. The more weight you need to lose, the longer you will need to stay in the diet, so choosing one that you can live with is extremely important.
Step4
Find other people who are following the same diet. You can do so by searching online for forum or weight loss groups. Once you find a group, read through the posts to see the pros and cons that others are mentioning and evaluate how you would deal with the same problems.

Tips & Warnings

  • Stay away from any diet that promises instant or quick results. These are either scams or not likely to work in the long run.
