How to Attach Beads to Cross Stitch Embroidery

Integrating beads into any cross stitch pattern can be easy with these simple steps. Use them to embellish your favorite patterns and add more texture.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Needle
  • Thread
  • Embroidery hoop
  • Fabric
  • Small beads
  1. Step 1

    Bring a threaded needle through the bottom of the fabric at the lower left corner of a cross stitch. Run the needle through the bead.

  2. Step 2

    Run the needle through the top side of the fabric at the upper right corner of the cross stitch.

  3. Step 3

    Bring the needle through the bottom side of the fabric at the lower right corner of the cross stitch, and carefully run it through the center of the bead again.

  4. Step 4

    Carefully run the needle back down through the top side of the fabric at the top right corner of the cross stitch and pull firmly to secure the bead in place.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider using beads with cross stitch patterns that don’t call for them, as they can be worked into virtually any pattern. You could even construct an entire cross stitch covered in beads.
