If you have people over and you realize you don’t have a cork screw to open the wine, it can be pretty embarrassing. Don’t fret, however. You can open the wine with a few tools you may already have around the house. You may want to move out of sight of your guests first, however. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Self-tapping screw
  • Pliers

Instructions

    • 1

      Screw a screw into the cork. Make sure it's the self-tapping kind of screw that has a pointy end. If the end is flat like some screws, it won’t work.

      Pull screw and cork out with the pliers. Needle nose pliers might be needed and the deeper into the cork the screw is, the easier it will be to pull out without breaking. Regular pliers might be too bulky.

      Serve the wine once you remove the cork.
