Step1
Learn Just What The BIOS Does
Performing a BIOS upgrade can boost pc performance by boosting such features as your video and sound functions. BIOS stands for Basic Input/Output System and it is a small file on your hard drive.
When you turn on your computer, the first thing that happens is the BIOS Post On Self Test or POST check the RAM,all drives, all peripherals connected to the PC, as well as other devices to be sure they are functioning properly.
Step2
What Is POST
If the POST determines that everything is in working order, the boot procedure will continue and all operating system files will load. But should the POST find a problem, it will simply stop.
You should consider upgrading your BIOS when you are trying to run a device or software that uses advanced technology on a computer that is outdated.
Step3
Here Is The CMOS Battry. It provides Power For The BIOS
One good example would be a hard drive with the capacity to hold 250 Gigabytes of data or more.Older BIOSes will normally support about 32 GB or Gigabytes. In this case, a vast majority of the hard drive space will be unusable.
BIOS updates are available on the Internet but you will need to identify the correct update for your system. To get this right, you will need manufacturers and model numbers of both your BIOS chip and motherboard.
Next you have to get online and visit the support websites of your motherboard's manufacturer. There you should be able to locate the lastest update for your BIOS.
Step4
You can perform a google search to find some good BIOS update sites You can run an identification utility which will automatically extract all the relevant information from your computer.
This information is then presented to you as a summary and a recommended BIOS update. However, most of these sites charge for this service. It may be best to visit your PC's motherboard site first and get the update free.
Step5
This Explains The Flash Bios
To upgrade your BIOS you must perform what is called a Flash update. This method is done on anything other than really old systems. This older system have BIOS chips that must be physically removed and then replaced with a new one.
Step6
When the term "Flash" is used, this basically means that existing instructions in the BIOS will be overwritten with an updated version. You will need your BIOS update which is a small file and
you must have a Flash program.
