Tiny metal springs can give your scrapbook page some “life.” This simple embellishment can create a lively image for your scrapbook layout. Attach the springs to the back of a paper embellishment and make it literally “pop” off of the page.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Decorate wire (lightweight wire used for scrapbooking)
  • Pencil
  • Paper scrapbook embellishments (die cuts, stamped images)
  • Photographs
  • Adhesive
  1. Step 1

Twist the wire tightly around the pencil in the desired length to make a spring.

  2. Step 2

Cut the wire and remove the home-made spring from the pencil.

  3. Step 3

Select the object you are going to highlight on the scrapbook page and attach the spring to the back of the item.

  4. Step 4

Place the other end of the spring in the correct location on the scrapbook layout and glue it to the page.

  5. Step 5

Watch the object move and “jump” off the page.

Tips & Warnings
  • Animate your photographs by using double prints and cutting a portion of the photograph and attaching it to the photo on the page.
  • Don’t make the springs too long or the popping effect will not be as appealing and the page may not fit inside the plastic page protectors.
  • Use a strong adhesive to attach the spring so it stays stuck.
  • Be sure to tuck in the ends of the wire so you don't poke yourself.
