  1. Step 1

Enlist a friend who is also dieting to help you stick to your guns.

  2. Step 2

Brainstorm some activities that you can do together to keep your mind off eating. Go hiking, swimming, bowling, explore a cave, play volleyball, work on a scrapbook, paint a room in your home, go dancing, anything that either gets you moving or occupies your hands and your mind is good.

  3. Step 3

Prepare reasonable portions of low calorie foods for any meals or snacks you eat. Avoid mall food courts, bakery sections of local grocery stores, and fast food places. Remember that just because it smells good doesn't mean it is good for you.

  4. Step 4

Order one appetizer and split it between you if you do eat out. Stick to low calorie menu options. If your each order an entree, eat half of it and ask for a takeout box for the other half. This makes your meal do double duty while keeping the calorie count under control. Drink plenty of water or tea.
