Instructions

    • 1

Cut the fabric into 1" to 3" squares depending on how many colors and patterns you want to use on the ornament.

    • 2

Place a fabric square on the Styrofoam ball and hold it with one hand. Take your butter knife and carefully tuck the fabric material into the Styrofoam. Be extremely careful not to stick the knife too far into the Styrofoam or you may break the ball. You can make squares, circles or odd shapes.

    • 3

Use the knife to tuck the fabric into the Styrofoam ball making your own shape.

    • 4

Continue to place more squares of material on the Styrofoam and repeat the material tucking process until you have covered the entire ornament.

    • 5

Cut a 5" piece of ribbon and fold it in half to form a loop, then use a thumb take or upholstery tack to attach the ribbon to the top of the ornament. This will be used to hang the ornament on the Christmas tree.

Tips & Warnings

  • When adding new pieces of material make sure you start your new piece where the other piece left off, so that you don't have gaps of Styrofoam.

  • You will probably need to trim the pieces of fabric as you go because each quilted section may be different sizes.

  • If the fabric will not stay tucked into the Styrofoam then you may want to use a small amount of glue to make the material stay inside the Styrofoam.

  • Make sure you are not tucking a lot of excess fabric into the Styrofoam because it could damage the ornament. Just tuck in the ends of the material.
