Many printers, especially office printers, have more than one paper tray. Did you know that you can match a form to a certain printer tray? This is helpful, for example, if you want to have a printer tray that is dedicated for letterhead. Or perhaps you have a tray that you use for longer, legal size paper. The following steps will show you how to match a form to a printer tray.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer using Microsoft Windows
  • Printer with multiple trays

Step1
Click “Start” and then click on “Control Panel.” If you are using an older version of Windows you will click “Start,” point to “Settings” and then click on “Control Panel.”
Step2
Click the option in the task pane that says “Switch to Classic View" if your “Control Panel” is in “Category View."
Step3
Double click “Printers and Faxes.” The “Printers and Faxes” dialog box will appear.
Step4
Right click the printer you want to use. Click “Properties.” The “Printer Properties” dialog box will open.
Step5
Click on the “Device Settings” tab. Under “Form To Tray Assignment,” click the printer tray you want to assign.
Step6
Choose the paper you want to assign to this tray from the available paper sizes. Repeat these steps for all trays.
