How to Make a Shamrock Shaped St. Patrick’s Card

  1. Step 1

Make sure there is enough paper to keep the shamrock stencil or shape printed from the computer will hold together. For example if the leafs come together and only connect by a small amount, the card will be too flimsy to hold together. If this is the case, take the pencil and draw the edges of the leaves further out to the outside so that the center of the card is larger and more stable. Let the left and right leaves create an imaginary straight line on the bottom. This will make creating the fold easier.

  2. Step 2

Trace the shamrock shape onto the green cardstock with the pencil and cut out with the scissors.

  3. Step 3

Trace the shamrock shape onto the white cardstock. Cut the shamrock out about half an inch from the right edge of the paper. Cut around the entire shamrock, except the edge of the leaf on the right. This uncut section will created the center fold of the card. Cut straight in towards the leaf from the right side so that the entire shamrock with the fold section is cut out.

  4. Step 4

Flip the white shamrock over so the fold section is on the left side. With the creasing tool and straight guide, crease the section about half an inch from the edge to create a rectangular shape out of the section. Fold the section in and crease.

  5. Step 5

Line up the green and white shamrock without putting the left sides together. Press the left side together. If there are a few areas that don't match, trim with a scissors.

  6. Step 6

Finish off with any embellishments you want to add to your card. Because of the shape you don't need to add a lot to the card. Let the shamrock speak for itself.
