If you find yourself continually relying on natural cures for whatever ails you, it may be time to consider a concentrated study program in herbalism. Studying herbal medicine can afford you a wealth of knowledge that you can tap into whenever an illness arises. Healers and teachers throughout the States have training programs and apprenticeships with which you can take to enhance your knowledge of herbs and their uses. The trainings are often short; but the wisdom they impart will be for a lifetime. Read on to learn more.

Step1
Check out the programs at Sage Mountain in Vermont. It was founded by popular herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, who also published excellent books on the subject. Visit their website at www.sagemountain.com.

In New York City, the Open Center has a wonderful program called Green Medicine. It is a ten month herbalism program that gives you a foundation in herbs and all of their uses. Visit their website at www.opencenter.org.

Tips & Warnings

  • Read up on herbs as much as you can before you go so that you have a basic understanding.
  • Always consult a health professional before treating things 100 percent naturally on your own. Even though herbs are natural, they can interfere with modern medicines, depending on which ones you take.
