Cooking gluten free is important to those with wheat allergies (celiac disease) because gluten is made from the starch in wheat flour. It is used in many everyday products, but you can avoid those products in your recipes.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    First, check labels. Many foods will state on the label if it has gluten. These word on the ingredients label may mean that the food contains gluten: emulsifier,stabilizer, flavoring, starch and/or hydrolyzed plant protein.

  2. Step 2

    Use 100% oat flour instead of other flour products. Oat flour has been shown to be safe for most people with celiac disease.

  3. Step 3

    Vegetarian foods usually have gluten in them as a replacement for meat products and binders. Be especially cautious when buying these products and check the labels carefully.

  4. Step 4

    Avoid soy sauce unless the label says that it does not contain wheat products.
