Do you have a cat or cats? Are they considered “part of the family”? If so, then why not buy them something extra special for their birthday? They deserve it. If you have felines in your life, you can easily (and affordably) buy them something special to celebrate their birthday. Cats are amazing and fascinating creatures, and they love new things.

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cat with a birthday

Step1
First thing you need to do is set a budget. Decide on how much you can afford (or want) to spend. This alone can narrow down your options, but it also doesn’t take a large amount to get something your cat will truly enjoy.
Step2
Once you have your budget set, you now need to select what would make your cat happy. You don’t want to buy a birthday present for your cat that would make them unhappy, after all. You should consider a few things when doing this. The following steps are questions you should consider, before making your purchase.
Step3
How old is your cat? The age should be considered, but most available gifts are for all ages. You should not get an older cat a gift that would be more of a bother than fun. An example of this could be a noisy, fast moving toy for an older cat that really doesn’t like to play (See next step for some suggestions). Kittens and adult cats generally love to play and would appreciate any toy(s) you choose.
Step4
Does your cat like to play? Almost all cats do, but there are exceptions. If your cat is one of the ones who do not like to play, you could buy them a warming pad, a comfy bed or hideaway, a scratching post, a wall comb, a cat tree or a window perch. Any of these items will give pleasure to your birthday kitty.
Step5
Is your cat overweight? If your cat is, then you may want to get a gift that would help them drop some of the extra pounds. A great gift would be one that stimulates activity, but is not over strenuous either.
Step6
Do you have more than one cat? If you do, make sure you get something that they can all enjoy together. Or you could buy more than one birthday gift.
Step7
Do you want to get an interactive toy, or one that your cat can enjoy alone? There are numerous choices of toys that involve contact with you. You will also find several that can be attached to something, or ones that actually move around or toys that have objects that move inside of them.
Step8
Does your cat have fears? You want to make sure you do not get them something that they will be afraid of. If your cat does not like the sound of plastic (or other noises produced in some products), do not buy them anything that would create this sound.
