Things You'll Need:
- Razor
- Shaving cream
- After-shave lotion
- Towel
-
Step 1
Jump in the shower. Prolonged exposure to hot water will loosen the bristles on your face, making it easier to shave off. When finished, leave your face wet.
-
Step 2
Drape a towel over your shoulders. Thoroughly cover your face in foam. Spread a thick amount into the palm of your hand, then spread it over your face using circular motions. The thicker the better. The goal is not to have to reach for that can again.
-
Step 3
Wet the blade with warm-to-hot water. Start with the sides of your face. Use your finger to find the bottom edges of your sideburns. Drag it across to remove the foam there. Start shaving here, using long downward strokes. Rinse the blade after every stroke to prevent hair build-up.
-
Step 4
Avoid doing the area above your lip and chin for now. The bristles are hardest there, and should be done last.
-
Step 5
Do the area beneath your chin and neck. Start on one side and work your way across, again using long downward strokes and rinsing the blade each time. Be gentle, as the skin of your neck is prone to cuts.
-
Step 6
Do the area above your chin. Be careful but consistent. Start on one side and carefully shave downwards.
-
Step 7
Now do the sides of your lips. Use the index finger of the hand not holding the razor to pull the flesh of your lip inwards. Now use your razor to shave the bristles off smoothly by dragging it in the opposite direction.
-
Step 8
Last comes the area above your lips. Suck your top lip into your mouth to maximize shaving area. Then use long downward strokes, rinsing after each stroke.
-
Step 9
When finished, rinse out and dry the blade. Splash some water over your face and use the towel to clear away any excess foam. Apply after-shave lotion.
