How to Make Griddle Bread Without an Oven

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2c flour
  • 1 tb cold butter
  • 4ts baking powder
  • 1/4 ts baking soda
  • 1/2 ts salt
  • 1/2 tb sugar
  • 1/2 c natural unsweetened yogurt
  • 3/4 c milk
  • bowl
  • grater
  • fork
  • knife
  • griddle or heavy pan
  • spatula
  • lightly floured surface such as a cutting board

Step1
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda into your bowl.
Step2
Grate the butter into the powder mixture made in Step 1.
Step3
Use fork to gently combine yogurt and milk. Do not over stir.
Step4
Press the mixture into a circle about 1/4 inch thick on top of your lightly floured surface.
Step5
Cut the circle into eight wedges using your knife
Step6
Heat griddle/pan to moderate temperature. Dust it lightly with flour.
Step7
Place dough on griddle, turn after 5 minutes. Cook until center is set.

Tips & Warnings

  • For softer bread, cover the pan.
