Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Make sure that your child has plenty of activities that are sedentary. Books, puzzles, games, crafts, coloring, legos and movies are all great ideas. The most important thing is that they are not bored, but still resting. Things they can do on their lap or a tray table are best. Sick children will still want to play, but it is important that you help them keep it simple.
-
Step 2
Setting up a TV tray or bed tray with some comfort items and necessities is important as well. If you have one that can swing over their lap if needed, but is high enough to stand next to their bed that is optimal. The tray should have water, tissues, appropriate snacks and any other illness related items like a bucket or wash cloth. The less a sick child gets in and out of bed the better.
-
Step 3
Make sure that your child's room is an appropriate comfortable temperature. Keep extra blankets and pillows on hand so they can switch back and fourth as desired. Often when children are sick they feel hot and then cold. So, having extra blankets and pillows is important.
