Almost everyone has experienced an acne outbreak, from the single, huge zit to the rash of small pimples. Some are lucky enough to suffer an occasional flare-up, while others struggle constantly to keep their bouts of acne under control.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Don't use harsh soaps. A mild cleanser works just as well. When you wash your face, don't scrub. Pat or blot your skin dry when you finish washing it.
Step2
Don't wear much make-up. Avoid oil based products that can clog your pores. Look for hypo-allergenic and environmentally safe products.
Step3
Evening primrose oil and black currant seed oil will help to bring acne breakouts under control. You will have to find out what dosage works for you, but some people have had success taking 500 mg, three times a day for two to three months.
Step4
Stress can also be a trigger for an acne flare-up. Try some relaxation techniques to alleviate symptoms. They can't hurt and you might be surprised at the results.
Step5
Watch for acne to appear when starting a new medication. Read the side effects to see if it can cause acne, a rash or other allergic reactions. Many contraceptives will cause acne because of the fluctuation in hormone levels.
Step6
Environmental factors such as household cleaners, oil and other pollutants have been proven to cause acne in certain skin types.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consult a physician if the acne spreads, changes drastically or becomes infected.
