Success has been described as a journey and never a destination. Everybody wish to succeed in life but not everyone knows how to achieve success, life will become a very boring and pointless journey that ends no where without a purpose or a destination, just like a ship without a destination and a compass will never get anywhere. Your goals are like the compass that tells exactly what you have set out to achieve in your journey called life and how you intend to go about achieving the goals. The following tips are useful to helping us setting up our goals for success

Step1
• Decide on Your Goals: what is it that you want to achieve most in life/and not what your parents or friends want for you.
• Have a balanced life: set goals for every area of your life, career, education, relationship, finances, socials, hobbies, spiritual etc.and make sure that you make time for fun and relaxation. It helps.
• Be Realistic: while setting your goals make sure you are realistic as much as possible. If they are too unrealistic, you will become frustrated and disillusioned. Am not saying you should set easy goals, but you should not set them so high that it becomes too difficult to achieve. You should move from one challenge to the other, it makes your goals interesting to work on.
Step2
• Be Specific: It’s a good idea to write your goals down so that you can tick them off your list as you achieve them. Be as specific as possible when expressing your goals and don’t be vague e.g. you can say I want to loose 50kg in weight.
• Set A Date: you should set specific dates for the achievement of your goals. So your goals should come in both short and long term. The due dates for each goal should not be too close to each other this makes them difficult to achieve.
• Be Flexible: the only thing that is constant in the world is change therefore when setting your goals make allowance fro flexibility. Review your goals to fit with current circumstances and practice
Step3
• Take Your Goals one step at a time: never try to go to the next level without achieving one. Every step you take should take you gradually towards achieving them.Dont expect to achieve sudden success it takes time.
• Don’t Be Afraid Of Failure: sometimes failure is a good thing as it is a part of the process. When you fail don’t be discouraged ask yourself what went wrong and learn from it. In setting your goals try to identify likely obstacles and find ways of dealing with them. Failure is not when things go wrong but when you fail to get up and learn from it.

  • • Build Healthy Relationships: identify people around you who can help you in achieving your goals and aspirations. It’s good to look for people who are already succeeding and learn from them. Avoid those who laugh at you when you slip or those who don’t see anything good about your goals. They are unhealthy for your achievement. • Reward Yourself: when things start to work out learn to reward yourself by doing something you enjoy, congratulate yourself and share your success with your friends and family. Following these steps will help you in achieving your goals .Don’t delay, set your goals today and start yourself on the way to success.
