Good writing doesn't always stand on its own. Work to support it by getting your name recognized, sharing advice with fellow writers, learning from your fellow writers and promoting yourself. You can achieve all of this when you network with writers. Networking with writers is a great way to promote your books and/or writing services. It's not hard to begin. Read on to learn how.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sign up for as many free social networks for writers as you can find. (See Additional Resources for some popular social networks for writers).

  2. Step 2

Create a profile that tells others a little more about yourself and explain what you write as well as what you've had published. Do this on each social network website you join.

  3. Step 3

Search for other writers on each social network website and add them to your friends list.

  4. Step 4

After you've built up your friends list, network with writers by sharing advice or enjoying friendly chitchat to get to know them better.

  5. Step 5

Send announcements to all your friends letting them know when you launch new books, make appearances, speak at teleseminars, or have a special contest, giveaway or discount offer.

  6. Step 6

Ask your friends to help you promote your book and tell 'em you'll do the same for them.

  7. Step 7

Exchange flyers via postal mail. In other words, offer to mail them your flyers if they'll mail you theirs. Then tell them you'll hang their flyers in your community if they'll do the same for you.

  8. Step 8

Set a date and time to meet with writers for coffee or chitchat if you discover the two of you are practically neighbors. What are you waiting for? Start networking with writers today!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't spam your friends. Spamming will only cause them to remove you from their friends list and it could result in loss of membership.
