There are many recipes on making ponzu sauce.
I have made a simpler recipe that uses only four ingredients.
I am planning to make another recipe that has more flavor than this one.
You can decide which one you like.
Just leave me a comment or a suggestion.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 knife
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 jalapeno (serranos are fine as a substitute)
  1. Step 1

Into one container measure then pour the lemon juice, soy sauce, and the sugar.
Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  2. Step 2

Cut the stem off of the jalapeno.
Then cut down the center length wise.
Then cut into 1/4 inch strips lengthwise.
Afterwards cut crosswise into 1/4 inch dice.

  3. Step 3

Combine the jalapenos and the mixture from step one.
Stir the mixture a little bit.
Then let the sauce sit in the refrigerator over night.

  4. Step 4

Then you can enjoy your sweet, spicy, sour ponzu sauce with shabu shabu, or fish.
There is a possibility that the sauce will break.
Not to worry there is nothing wrong with it.
Just give it a little stir till combined then you have your original product

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want less heat scrape out the seeds with a spoon.
  • When handling spicy peppers wear latex gloves.
  • This sauce can be served hot or cold.
  • Do not touch anywhere on your face after handling spicy peppers.
  • Be careful not to cut your fingers with your knife.
