I support tons of music. I see all kinds of different local and up-and-coming bands. Some I feel have bright futures ahead of them; others make me wish there was a law forbidding certain people from picking up instruments. Here are a few things to help your chances of getting invited back to perform again.

How to Get Invited Back to Perform at a Venue as a Rock Band

1. Show up to the venue on time but don't be too early. Nobody likes a band hanging around a venue while people are trying to set-up. On the same note, be on time.
2. Introduce yourself and be cordial. This includes the sound guy, the booker, and any other bands. This is their venue, be a respectful guest or they won't want you back. Be social but not to the point where you don't give people their space.
3. Stay within your time limit. You're not famous, in fact nobody cares about you. This is especially important if you're opening for a more established act. I can think of quite a few times where opening bands would play for way too long and irritate everyone in the crowd. Play your best songs and get off stage.
4. Don't talk too much. Chances are you're not funny. If you're convinced you are funny quit the band and try stand-up comedy.
5. Be appreciative. Thank everyone that contributed towards your show. Tell the booker you'd love to come back. In some cases, even a Thank-You card can be appropriate. Use your judgment.

Tips & Warnings

• Mingle with the crowd. They'll love you for it.
• If the sound isn't perfect you may have to deal with it. You're not Axl Rose; it'll be OK.
