How to Make a Pinecone Birdseed Feeder with Kids

  1. Step 1

Place a large piece of wax paper over your work area. This makes cleanup easy and you have a place to set your birdseed feeders when done.

  2. Step 2

Tie the center of the string around the pinecone near the top. Tie it tightly several times to knot it well.

  3. Step 3

Pour some birdseed into the small container. Use enough seed so that when you dip the pinecone into the bowl, you cover it completely with seed.

  4. Step 4

Using the butter knife, cover the pinecone with the peanut butter.

  5. Step 5

Put the peanut butter pinecone in the bowl of birdseed and press down. Roll the pinecone until it is covered in birdseed.

  6. Step 6

Place the cone on the wax paper to dry for 24 to 48 hours.

  7. Step 7

Tie the pinecone in a tree or another place where the birds will find it.

Tips & Warnings
  • The pinecone can be reused until it falls apart.
