How to Improve a Bad Attitude
Make life less stressful by turning your bad attitude around into a more positive one. Bad attitudes bring on more stress and produce a poor environment for yourself and those around you. There are different types of bad attitudes, including the drama queen, the "woe is me" type, the silent type and the habitual complainer. Improving your bad attitude will contribute to a much happier and healthier you, and it may even reduce conflicts between you and other people.

1
Look on the brighter side of things. Stop telling yourself things always go wrong for you and nothing will be any better. Try telling yourself things are better and will continue to get better. There is always a brighter side to things; rather than saying the glass is half empty, start telling yourself it is half full.

2
Appreciate everything. Do not take anything for granted; appreciate even the smallest things you have. Do not worry about things you want and cannot have. Focus on what you actually do have. Wishing for something you may never get will only make you depressed and may result in a poor attitude.

Fix things that you can. Focus on correcting problems in your life that you can control. For example, if you are down because you do not like your job, start looking for a new one. Or if you are in debt, stop spending and start paying down the debt. Move on and do not worry for long periods of time on things that are out of your control. Things out of your control include a bad haircut or friends who cancel a get-together. Deal with issues in the present, and if they cannot be fixed, let them go. Find something you can be happy about.

4
Smile and stand up straight. You will give a more positive impression to others, and they will likely smile back. Good posture gives you a better self-image, which may result in an improved attitude.
-
5
Take time to smell the flowers. Find time in your life to relax. Go for a walk, take a nap or meditate. Giving yourself a mental break from day-to-day worries will free your mind of bad images and may help improve your attitude.

6
Get away from a negative environment. If you are working in a place where everyone else has a bad attitude, find a new job or request a transfer.
