Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Internet access
-
Step 1
Just because someone looks good and works in a gym doesn't mean that their knowledge can transform your body into the one of your dreams. Some people just look good; it's call genetics. But good genes don't certify someone as a fitness trainer. On the other hand, the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) does. So does the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Ask if your trainer has certification from one of these organizations.
-
Step 2
If your trainer is certified does that mean you are safe to put your fitness goals in their hands? Not yet. What if they work you so hard you pass out? They should have a CPR certification from the American Heart Association and they must also have liability insurance for your family in case you don't make it.
-
Step 3
Next it would be a good idea to ask for references. Ask those who are or were under the care of your fitness trainer prospect, if they saw any results. Some trainers are good in training themselves but not others.
