No warm-weather tailgate party is complete without a miniature swimming pool right at the tailgate. So bring your bathing suit and a few extras burgers for the grill because this will make your tailgate literally the coolest on the block. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pickup truck with an empty bed
  • Large tarp
  • Access to a hose or water source
  1. Step 1

Buy a tarp that is considerably larger than the bed of the truck you plan to use. You’ll want at least 3 or 4 feet of tarp to hang over the outer sides of your truck bed.

  2. Step 2

Line the inside of your truck bed with your tarp and drape the excess tarp over the sides. Use your hands to flatten the tarp and press it flush against the sides and corners where the bed floor meets the side walls.

  3. Step 3

Find a hose as near as you can to your tailgate destination. Fill the tarp in the truck bed with water.

  4. Step 4

Drive to your tailgate spot as slowly as you can without disturbing traffic so you don’t spill a lot of your pool water.

  5. Step 5

Park your truck right next to your grill, cooler and other tailgate supplies. Get in to enjoy the refreshing fun.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you plan to use your truck bed tailgate pool on a regular basis, you might want to invest in a pond liner. They might cost you a little more money than a standard tarp, but are well worth the investment because of their durability.
  • If your pool starts to warm up in the sun, use the ice or melted ice water from your tailgate coolers to cool it back down.
