Things You'll Need:
- a mold
- resin mixture
- resin release
- something to embed
-
Step 1
The first step is to get your materials ready and make them available for you to use. You need to have everything at hand in order to do this because the resin will start to set as soon as it is applied.
Then treat the mold with your release. This will enable you to get the piece out of the mold when you are done with it and when it is dry. -
Step 2
The next step is to mix your resin until it is a little cloudy. This lets you know that it is ready to apply. You should also make sure that there are no air bubbles in the mixture. It will be nicer to look at if there are no bubbles. Sometimes there is nothing you can do about the air bubbles. If you get them, try to make the most of it and see what you can do creatively to make it look the way you want.
-
Step 3
Next is to let the piece dry for at least 3 days. You might think it's dry but if you touch it and it's not you will leave fingerprints on the piece and you may not want that kind of a look.
-
Step 4
When the piece is dry, take it out of the mold carefully. Then drill a hole in the top of it so you can hook it to your chain.
The last step is to enjoy your jewelry!!!

on 9/29/2008 There are many places that you can get what you need. A hobby store is a good place to start for molds and the resin itself. You can also get resin compound at your local Wal-mart. Just make sure that you have the stuff that will keep the resin from bonding to your mold or you could be in real trouble.
