The 2002 Buick Century has a handy tire inflation monitoring system that warns you if any of your tires is 12 psi of pressure different than the other 3 tires. If one is low, the "Low Tire" light on your dashboard will light up. As soon as possible, have your tires checked and fix any problems. Once you have the correct pressure in all of your tires, you are required to reset the tire inflation monitor system in order for it to be effective. If you do not calibrate (reset) the system, it will not function properly; and the light will remain on always. It will be useless, until it has been reset.

The best part about this is it does not take much effort or time to reset your system. Read on to learn how to reset the tire inflation monitor system on your 2002 Buick Century.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2002 Buick Century
  • Tire problem completely resolved
  1. Step 1

Turn the key to the "Run" position.

  2. Step 2

Find the "Reset" button, which is red and located inside of the fuse box. The instrument panel fuse box is located on the passenger side of the dashboard. You will have to open the passenger door to access it. It is marked "Fuses"; the red "Reset" button is in the top row.

  3. Step 3

Push in and hold the button for approximately five seconds. During this time, the "Low Tire" light will light up and blink three times. The light will then go out. If, for any reason, your light does not go out during this process, contact a service dealer.

  4. Step 4

Drive as you normally would. The system will finish calibrating the tire inflation monitor system.

Tips & Warnings
  • Even if you have your tires repaired at a garage, they may not reset the system for you. You should ask them if they have; but you may find that several of the shops (unless it is a Buick dealer) will not know how to do this.
  • If you change the pressure in the tires, rotate the tires, or fix or substitute more than one tire at a time; you have to reset the system.
  • It requires time for your system to "learn" the proper tire pressure. The system monitors your tire pressure in three different speeds for approximately fifteen minutes each.
  • Never reset the tire inflation monitoring system, until the cause of the problem has been completely repaired. If you do, the system will not be able to function correctly.
  • Your tire inflation monitor system will not work properly if more than 1 tire has changed 12 psi in pressure, if your speed is over 70 mph or if your system has not been reset.
