Finding dog biscuits in the store is easy, but finding a delicious, naturally organic treat for your favorite pup can prove challenging and expensive! Read on to learn how simple it is to cook up healthy, tasty treats for your best furry friend.

From Quick Guide: Peanut Butter Recipes
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups organic whole-wheat flour
  • ¼ cup of brewers yeast
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup organic peanut butter (unsalted, unsweetened or natural style)
  • 1 cup organic low-fat milk
  • 2 large mixing bowls
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutter
  • Baking sheet
  • Cooling rack
  1. Step 1

Combine 2 cups of flour, ¼ cup of brewers yeast and 1 tbsp. of baking powder in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly.

  2. Step 2

Mix 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of room temperature peanut butter in a separate bowl until peanut butter is dissolved and there are no chunks. Be patient, this takes a few minutes to do right.

  3. Step 3

Add the milk and peanut butter mixture to the flour mixture bowl. Stir until the liquid is absorbed and the mix is dough-like.

  4. Step 4

Pour the dough mixture onto a clean counter. Knead the dough until all the wet and dry ingredients are completely combined.

  5. Step 5

Roll the dough out to a ¼ inch thickness and cut the dough into shapes with a cookie cutter.

  6. Step 6

Bake the cookies on a baking sheet at 375 degrees F until golden brown. The time needed for baking will differ with the size of cookie cutter you use, ranging from about 8 to 12 minutes.

  7. Step 7

Cool the cookies on a cooling rack until cool to the touch and store them in plastic containers or zip bags.

Tips & Warnings
  • A wire whisk is the best tool for mixing the peanut butter and milk.
  • If your dough is warm from the hand kneading, refrigerate it for a few minutes so it won’t be too sticky to roll.
  • This recipe can be easily doubled to share with your friend’s dog.
  • A bone shaped cookie cutter adds a fun touch.
