A cleaning caddy is a must have for anyone with a lot to do and very little time to do it. It just makes sense to have everything you need in one caddy that you can carry wherever you need it. Try and see if it doesn't save you a ton of time and wasted steps. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plastic caddy with big storage spaces and a handle
  • Window cleaner
  • Degreaser
  • Scouring Powder or liquid toilet bowl cleanser
  • All purpose spray cleaner
  • Furniture polish
  • Brass or metal polish
  • Rubber gloves
  • Toilet brush
  • Cleaning cloths, rags, sponges
  • Garbage bags
  • Small grocery bags
  • Scrub brush, old toothbrush
  • Duster
  1. Step 1

Buy a caddy that has plenty of room in it and a handle. Usually a center handle is a good choice as it balances the weight evenly for easier carrying. Make sure it's sturdy because it will be very full.

  2. Step 2

Add your cleaners. Homemade cleaners are the cheapest way to go when you can use them. You'll need one for glass, one for grease and one all purpose spray cleaner.

  3. Step 3

Select bathroom products for your needs. The liquid toilet scrubbing solutions are a bit more money but they're a lot less trouble. Some find the scouring powders work better, though. Add a toilet brush and an old toothbrush for cleaning around fixtures.

  4. Step 4

Add furniture polish. You can use an oil for infrequent cleanings but a spray polish is good for weekly use. Add a duster and some soft rags for polishing. If you have brass or silver pieces, wipe them down with a dry cloth weekly. Keep a good metal and or brass polish on hand for infrequent cleanings. You won't need it in your caddy most times, though.

  5. Step 5

Take small grocery bags for picking up items that belong in other rooms as you go. Have one large garbage bag for emptying wastebaskets and picking up papers and other throw aways. Throw in rubber gloves for protecting your hands.

  6. Step 6

Clean your floors first with your dust mop, broom or vacuum cleaner. Put these away. Now grab your cleaning caddy. Do the bedrooms, bathrooms and hallways first. Then do the living area: the kitchen, den and dining area. Then, do the areas that need little cleaning, like the formal living rooms and dining rooms. Last, clean the laundry room and or the area where you store all your cleaning supplies.

  7. Step 7

Using a little planning helps a lot with efficiency around the house!

Tips & Warnings
  • Use gloves when cleaning the toilet area to cut down on germs. Use them also with any harsh cleaning supplies.
  • Make your own cleaning supplies to save yourself a ton of money.
