Step 1
When you are determining who is responsible enough to watch your children it can be overwhelming. The thought of leaving your baby in the wrong hands can be very scary. The ideal place to leave your child to be babysat is with a relative or a close friend. If that is simply unable to happen for any reason, then there are ways to help find a responsible individual to babysit for you. Here are some helpful tips for choosing the right babysitter ....

Step 2
* WHERE TO LOOK FOR A BABYSITTER *
Ask around your neighborhood for potential babysitters. Some of the neighborhood children may be interested in babysitting and the only way to find out is to ask around. Ask some of the neighbors with whom you get along with and they seem like good people. The best way to determine the way the child that may be babysitting for you is, is to examine the parents.
Another way to find a babysitter in your area is to use the internet. The internet has recourses to help you find a babysitter in your area. there are plenty of online sites that post potential babysitters in your area. In some communities you can even go to the City Hall and ask them if they have a list of babysitters looking for work. -
Step 3
* WATCH HOW THE BABYSITTER INTERACTS WITH YOUR CHILDREN *
Once you have narrowed down the list of potential babysitters invite them over to meet the children and to talk to them before they actually babysit. Introduce them to your children and watch closely how they interact with your children. If they seem cold and a bit uncaring then perhaps they are not the right sitter for your family.
Talk to them about rules of the house, like discipline, eating habits, bed times, and any other thing that concerns you and your children. See that they agree to the rules and will stick by them. ask them for references if they have any and whether or not they know CPR. This is basically an interview for babysitting your children and it is very important. You want to make sure you are leaving your children in responsible hands. -
Step 4
* TALK TO THE BABYSITTERS PARENTS IF THEY ARE A MINOR *
If the potential babysitter is a minor then ask to talk to their parents. Ask the parents any questions that you have and make sure the babysitter will not be overwhelmed taking care of your child. Ask the parents if they have babysat in the past and the age range of the children that they babysat. Simply ask any questions that are appropriate if anything concerns you.
There is no reason to feel ashamed or embarrassed about being an over concerned parent. You are simply protecting your children the best you can. In this day and age there are many weird-o's out there and you are protecting your child from any harm. Make sure the parents say it is alright for their child to babysit the hours that you plan on having them care for your children. -
Step 5
* DISCUSS THE PAY RATE *
Make sure it is clear the amount that you are willing to pay for babysitting and that the potential babysitter agrees upon it. Of course include an extra amount if the time they are supposed to babysit is extended. As long as they agree on the pay then there shall be no furtherer discussion about it. Stick to your budget and make sure they understand it well. -
Step 6
* LISTEN TO YOUR INTUITION *
We all have that feeling about certain people and we should listen to it. Your intuition is a gift that should never be ignored. If you simply get a bad feeling about a certain person, then move onto the next. Don't brush of that feeling because you are in a rush to find a sitter. You are leaving your most loved beings with that person, so make sure you feel good about it. -
Step 7
ooking for a babysitter can be overwhelming to say the least. Make sure you put them through an initial interview to determine they are suitable for your needs and compatible with your children. Choose the babysitter you make the most connection with and you feel comfortable with leaving your children with. If your children are old enough simply ask them whom they liked the best and why.
Going though the process of finding a sitter can be draining, but it will well be worth it on the end when you have the right one for your family!
