How to Lock Your Desktop in Windows XP

If your computer is easily accessible by others and you do not wish for this to happen, you can easily lock it so that it is password protected. No one else will have access to it until you give them the required information. Here is how you do so.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Windows XP

Step1
Make sure you know the password to your computer.
Step2
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del on your keyboard.
Step3
Choose "Lock Desktop."
Step4
Your computer will be locked immediately.
Step5
If you need access to your desktop again, press Ctrl+Alt+Del.
Step6
Enter your password and you will then be able to resume activity on the computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose an easy to remember password.
  • Do not forget your password! You will not be able to log back into your machine if so.
