Macs won't play WMV files by default. Here is how you can get Quicktime to play WMV files on your Mac OS.
Download the Windows Media components from the Microsoft site.
After downloading the Windows Media components, install them and launch Quicktime.
Navigate to the folder that contains the WMV file and launch it.
Your Quicktime player should now play the file smoothly.
