How to Play a WMV File on a Mac Computer

Macs won't play WMV files by default. Here is how you can get Quicktime to play WMV files on your Mac OS.

Things You’ll Need:

• Mac OS X

1. Download the Windows Media components from the Microsoft site.
2. After downloading the Windows Media components, install them and launch Quicktime.
3. Navigate to the folder that contains the WMV file and launch it.
4. Your Quicktime player should now play the file smoothly.

Tips & Warnings

• This will not play protected WMV files. You will need to do that on a Windows computer.
