How to Find Alternatives to Paypal

Rate: (8 Ratings)

If you do even a little online trading (ecommerce) at home or work, (buying or selling) know that online transactions do not have to be done exclusively via Paypal. There are a variety of other websites that are just as convenient and easy to use for money transfers. Take a look, there's new sites appearing on the Internet daily.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet service

Step1
Click on any of the websites listed in Resources below for more information. These are some third party providers as well some places to accept credit card transactions.
Step2
Look for a service that has minimal or no fees involved. If you absolutely are finished with fees and dealing with a third party, consider accepting checks drawn directly from the buyer's bank account. These are usually sent from the buyer's bank.
Step3
Make sure that the service you choose also offers some sort of guarantee and backing that states your goods will arrive safely or you can apply for a full refund.
Step4
Contact the financial institution or website and fill in the complete information, including a valid email address when you decide on service(s) that will fit your needs. You will need this to verify the financial information later on.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do your homework on these companies, always find Internet ratings and fees that are charged.
  • Do not do business with a company you are not familiar with.

on 2/29/2008 I have used Paypal since they came online. I love and trust them, and wouldn't know how to act using anything else, but at least now I know they exist. Thank you.

on 2/13/2008 Another option many online retailers are accepting is Google checkout. It is free for the purchaser.
