  1. Step 1

Go to the Internet and open up two or three Windows to begin to comparison shop simultaneously.

  2. Step 2

Consult the resources section for links to get you started when you comparison shop on the Internet. A few websites are featured in this article.

  3. Step 3

Go to mysimon.com. Type the item you seek in the search box or search by category on the right column of your screen. Sign up for their email newsletter (optional).

  4. Step 4

Froogle is Google's retail version of a search engine. You can also use a Google Checkout account and your free Google account seamlessly with this website.

Not sure what you're looking for? Click any of the categories listed beneath the search box.

Don't forget to set your preferences for search. You can also use the advanced search if you are looking for something specialized or hard-to-find.

  5. Step 5

Go to the local search engine, mybargainbuddy.com to comparison shop. Click on any of the six tabs listed across the top of your screen or the bargains that appear on the first page.

On the right side, look for boxes featuring an email newsletter, stores, links, coupons and deals. Deals are updated daily, so you are getting information as it becomes available.

  6. Step 6

Bizrate.com is a comparison shopping website that offers not only comparison shopping, but consumer satisfaction surveys as well.

On the top there is a search box for a specific item. You can also sign up for a free account with them to keep up to date. And, like the others, they offer a newsletter.

On the right side of the page, there are specific categories you can click on and explore.

In the middle of the page, you will find what they consider "hot" items. Be sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom to see them all.

At the bottom, they have the circle of excellence and links to other bizrate items.

If you do sign up with them, you will get survey invitations every so often. It is not necessary to sign up to fill out a satisfaction survey.

  7. Step 7

Pricegrabber has an array of services listed for comparison shopping on the Internet. Sign up for email alerts by clicking the button at the bottom of the screen.

  8. Step 8

Dealtime has been around nearly since the beginning of Internet shopping. This reliable shopping search engine offers a search box at the top where you can search the entire site or specific categories. There are clickable links in the middle of the page to bring you to specific categories or you can use the tabs at the top.

  9. Step 9

Pricescan is an Internet shopping website that allows you to search for an individual product or brand or click on their category lists. Check out the blog in the left column for more information when you shop. Locate the dropdown box at the top for shopping and product category offerings. At the top right, there is a toolbar, reviews, price comparisons, and more.

Scroll to the bottom and find another search bar and additional category links.

  10. Step 10

Check out eBay to comparison shop on new and used merchandise.
Proceed with caution and use a credit card to check out in case you do not receive your item or it is misrepresented.

Tips & Warnings
  • Click onto the actual store's website to verify costs, terms and learn more about the retailer.
  • Can't decide what brand to buy or which store is most reliable? Read ratings and reviews by other buyers in "consumer reports" on many websites.
  • Some prices listed in the searches may not be accurate. Some do not include shipping costs or are misrepresented.
  • Do not shop at work or on a shared computer.
