Garage sales have several benefits, first and foremost to clean out things you have been accumulating over the years. Secondly, to raise funds. In this article, I will give you tips on how to price your items for quick sale and ease of selling.
The easiest way to price garage sale items is to decide on four or five prices that you will charge for most items. Let's say you are selling clothing, household items, knick knacks, toys, and music cds.
Step2
You would decide on prices ranging from $.25, $.50, $1.00, $2.00, $5.00. You would assign a colored sticker to each particular price. $.25 would be a yellow sticker, $.50 would be a blue sticker, and so on.
Step3
You would then place one of each colored stickers on a piece of white poster board. Use magic marker or pen and write the price of each color next to that particular sticker.
Step4
When it comes time to tag your items all you have to do is slap a sticker on it. It makes paying easier on the customers, too. You just add up the stickers and voila!
Tips & Warnings
The cheaper you price your items the more likely they are to sell, and that's really what you want, isn't it?
If you come across an item that you want to get rid of but it has a flaw, such as a stain or a rip, throw it in a "free" box. Maybe someone who does crafts will find a use for it.
If you have a lot to get rid of and you are on your last day of the sale, try offering $5 for as much as a customer can fit in a brown paper bag. You will get rid of most of your remaining "junk" and your customers will be enthusiastic!
