How to clean your home windows like the professionals, quickly, easily, and inexpensively.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small bucket
  • Liquid dishwasing soap (dawn, joy)
  • quality squeegee
  • strip washer
  • soft cotton towel or chamois
  1. Step 1

Begin by filling a small bucket with a couple gallons of water adding roughly 1 tablespoon per gallon of liquid dish washing soap. You may also add half a cup white vinegar for an extra cleaning boost.

  2. Step 2

brush window clean of any large debris that may scratch the window while using the strip washer. Immerse your strip washer into the soap solution and squeeze out excess. Using your strip washer begin by outlining the window getting well into the corners, then with a swirl motion continue to the rest of the window until it is completely soapy.

  3. Step 3

Place your squeegee on the top corner of the window and with one continuous motion drag it all the way to the bottom. Continue this motion while overlapping each stroke by about an 1.5'' remembering to dry the squeegee blade with a towel after each pass.

  4. Step 4

take a clean towel or chamois cloth and dry all the edges. Congratulations you will have a gleaming clean window!

Tips & Warnings
  • There are many types of squeegee techniques. The technique listed is one of the easiest and may also be done horizontally. More advanced techniques include the "super swirl" that allows the squeegee to never leave the glass until it is finished.
  • Never mix chemicals
