Check your size. Foot length can increase by as much as a full size when arches collapse under body weight, so keep this in mind when shopping for that perfect boots to wear. Shop in the later part of the day when your feet probably have expanded after you've been walking. Try on boots with socks or stockings, especially if you need to wear them with your boots regularly.

Find the style that would suit you best. Think of when and how often you will wear the boots. You might not wear the same style for work as for attending parties. And you need a different pair just for snow. There are knee high boots, thigh high or sexy boots, cowboy boots, stiletto boots, go-go boots, platform boots, high-heel boots, low-heeled or flat boots and ski boots. Some are made of leather, some are made of suede materials and others made of faux fur.

Match your boots with your outfit. Here are some clothing styles and the type of boots that go with them:
1) Mini Skirt: Knee-high and thigh high leather boots would look sexy.
2) Denim Pants/Jeans: Wear cowboy boots, black leather boots with matching leather jacket, suede boots, high-heeled or flats.
3) Business Attire: Knee-high leather boots.
4) Ski Outfit: Ski boots or snow boots.
5) Dress Pants: Low leather boots, either high-heeled or flat.
6) Skort: Knee-high boots
7) Capri: Knee-high or low leather boots
8) Tights: Knee-high or thigh-high boots
9) Shorts: Thigh-high or knee-high boots
10) Skirt: Knee-high or low leather boots
