Ever wonder how to enjoy the seemingly vast sights of the hill country? The flowers, creeks, woods, and landscapes look like watercolor paintings in the distance. Here are a few things to set your sights on when traveling to the Texas Hill Country.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Walking shoes
  • Long pants for hikes
  • A GPS on your car so you wont get lost
Step1
Cactus in the wild Set your GPS to the hill country just outside San Antonio, TX. Drive to the hill country off highway 306.
Step2
Driftwood Bring your camera as you notice the driftwood nearby. Whether a professional photographer or if photography is your hobby...notice the things of nature that have unique shapes. Consider taking a picture from a different angle than your peers might try.
Step3
Bluebonnets Enjoy the rolling fields of flowers. When bluebonnets are in season, catch the fields of blue or purple. Bluebonnets are the state flower. You may even see some small ponds with planted life.
Step4
Planted or wild? Take a moment to stop by the side of the road and do a bit of exploring or hiking, just be sure that you stay out of private land. Consider viewing a waterfall, creek, or field or colorful plants.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear clothes that are appropriate for the weather
  • Try to take pictures at different times of day for the same subject for comparison
  • If driving at night, watch for deer
  • If hiking during the day, watch out for snakes or other dangerous animals under rocks
  • If hiking, watch for thorns or sharp bushes
