How to De-Stress After a Bad Day

Everyone occasionally has "one of those days." Our boss yelled at us, a coworker lashed out at us, the car wouldn’t start, the cat ran away and we ruined our favorite shirt. After those kinds of days, everyone needs the opportunity to recover. Here’s how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Blow off some steam. Whether it’s working out at the gym or venting to a friend, find an outlet for the tension and anger you’ve bottled up. It will help you get over it faster.
Step2
Treat yourself. Have an impromptu dinner date with some friends or go get that wrist watch you’ve been eyeing for months. There’s nothing wrong with indulging once in a while, as long as it doesn’t require blowing your life savings or starting at ground zero with your weight loss program.
Step3
Relax. If that means taking a hot bath or a cold shower, or just changing into some sweats and vegging out in front of the television, go for it. Relaxation will take your mind off your worries and help you to focus on something else.
Step4
Let tomorrow take care of itself. Whatever happened today that’s so bad is over with. Tomorrow is a new day with its own set of worries. Dragging around the previous day’s set of problems isn’t going to make it any easier. Forget about it and move on.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't get drunk. Getting drunk never helps anything. You forget about your problems for the moment, but they're still there the next morning along with a hangover.
