Computer
Digital photo files
Adobe Photoshop program
Photo paper for ink jet printer

Turn Photos into Funky Art using Photo Shop

Step1

Photograph to be used for artwork Take or locate a photograph you'd like to turn into art. Select simple face shots of friends or your own scenic images to work with.

Step2

Open Adobe Photoshop.

Step3

Open the photo file you want to work with.

Step4

Image using Sumi-e filter Go to the Filter menu and select an art filter. I recommend the "Sumi-e," "find edges" or "watercolor art filters" to start. Once selected you can view the photograph with the filter. If you don't like it, simply go to the Edit drop down menu and select Undo.

Step5

For even more details, use the magnetic lasso tool and select areas in the photo that you do not want the filter to apply over. Then select your filter option to apply to the other parts of the photo.

Step6

Save the file using a different name and print onto photo paper for the best quality image. Allow to dry and frame with a matte.
