Step 1
The first thing you have to do is change the way you think about money. Money is not the root of all evil, and it is not the answer to all your problems. Once you are clearer about why you need the extra money, you will be able to make better choices on how to make the extra money.
-
Step 2
Take a good look at your career. Where do you stand now? Where do you want to go? Look at all the options you have, and choose the path that will allow you to make the most money. This is usually in the long run, however it does pay off. Remember that the hardest workers with the clearest career ideas are the ones who will get promotions and who are going to move ahead.
-
Step 3
Never settle. Be bold and ask for a raise if you think you deserve one. Gather proof of why you think that, and show your boss. Never be annoying about it, but be persistent and do not give up on hard work because you hear a no. This is all the more reason why you should work even harder and show your worth to your company. If you still don't get that raise, start looking for another job.
-
Step 4
Sometimes you have to spend money to make money. Research whether having a degree will land you a higher paying job. Usually, people with degrees make more money than people who don't have them.
-
Step 5
When you are offered a job, do not be afraid to negotiate your starting salary. If you start higher, raises will make it even higher and over time you will make more than you would than with a lower starting salary. Get the money you are worth.
-
Step 6
Always keep yourself fresh and learn new skills. Maybe you need to take that extra language course, or a computer course. Seek ways to be ahead of the crowd by learning more skills and the newest technology relevant to your area of work.
