There is much concern today with respect to the damages the sun can do to the skin. It increases the risk for skin cancer, and it definitely speeds up the aging process, causing fine lines and wrinkles. Besides the sun damage, the skin is greatly influenced by our dietary habits and overall lifestyle. A skin that shows aging and wrinkles often gives an overall tired look to the person. However, there are ways for a person to take care of their skin in order to prevent and counteract skin wrinkles. Healthy rejuvenated skin can add a youthful glow and outlook to a person’s life.

Things You'll Need:

  • Sunscreen
  • Skin moisturizer for daytime and night
  1. Step 1

Apply sunscreen every day. Sunscreen can help build a defense between ultraviolet A and B rays and the skin. It is recommended to use a sunscreen that yields an SPF of 15 or higher. Because there is more awareness with respect to sun damage to the skin, there are more and more skin care products on the market that contain sunscreen. These products include body lotions, facial creams and make-up foundations.

  2. Step 2

Do not allow the skin to become dry. Wash with body soaps that assist in moisturizing the skin, but it is not always necessary to use soap on every part of the body. For instance, the face, under the arms and the groin regions should be washed with soap to promote cleanliness and good personal hygiene, but soap does not necessarily need to be used on all other parts of the body. This will encourage the skin to naturally moisturize.

  3. Step 3

Use a quality skin moisturizer at night. Before bed, it is beneficial to wash the face and apply a skin moisturizer that is aimed at reducing wrinkles and fine lines. It also helps to heal the skin cells from the stressful damages of the day.

  4. Step 4

Drink the daily required amount of water. Water goes a long way to hydrating skin cells, and well-hydrated skin is more pliable and less prone to wrinkles.

  5. Step 5

Stop smoking. It is well known that smoking is unhealthy for the body in so many ways, but it also contributes to skin wrinkles. Smoking causes premature aging of the skin and helps along the deep-set wrinkles that appear around the area of the mouth due to puckering the mouth when a person smokes.

  6. Step 6

Eat a diet that is full of healthy nutritious foods. Eating wisely helps nourish the skin cells, which again can counteract skin wrinkles. Try to consume a diet that is well balanced in rich vitamins and natural antioxidants. Changing the diet to one that is low in fat and sugar will definitely have the skin looking and appearing healthier.

  7. Step 7

Visit a dermatologist. A dermatologist can recommend a specific skin care regimen that will help a person take better care of their skin. There also non-surgical procedures that a dermatologist can do that are aimed at reducing wrinkles such as chemical skin peels.

  8. Step 8

Undergo plastic surgery. Of course, this can be expensive and a bit intimidating, but for the person that really wants to counteract aging and the appearance of wrinkles, this just might be an appealing choice. There are several different options available depending on the person’s desired need.
